It's about 9:15 and we still haven't eaten dinner, and just ordered a pizza. I'm such a bad wife sometimes. ;) Thursdays are our busy days because Jonathan goes to that 5k training class at 6:00, the same time I go to Art & Libations. Speaking of which, I really like the painting from tonight. It's a vase of red tulips and if I could figure out how to post a picture of it I would. I'm still learning! We had intentions of having grilled pork chops after I got home, but the wind has kicked up so much, we didn't think it was safe to grill. Since we have nothing else thawed out for dinner and it's so late, we gave in and ordered pizza. Awful, I know.

This next part may be entirely TMI, so if you're not curious, just stop reading for now. Tomorrow morning bright and early I have an appointment for an ultrasound. Before you get all excited/freaked out about me being pregnant, allow me to say once and for all, I am absolutely NOT pregnant, quite the contrary... I am in the midst of having all kinds of tests run to make sure that all my "lady parts" are functioning correctly. It's not fun, and I'm extremely nervous about it. Jonathan will be at work tomorrow morning when I have to go which makes me even more freaked about everything. If you could just say a little prayer for me if you think about it, I would greatly appreciate it.

That's all for now, the doorbell just rang so it's dinner time.

Goodnight all,
Jennifer

Short Post

Two days in a row, check me out! ;) Since I actually have no catching up to do today, I am hoping that I will be able to make this post short. I am not making any promises because I am fond of rambling on and on.

Anyway, Jonathan went to his parent's house last night to drop of his dad's Birthday card and came back with an awesome Shutterfly book that Carol had made for us! It's pretty much a summary of 2008 in photos all in one hardcover book. Very cool. I'm thinking she made a few copies because some of the events we weren't there for and she'd used some of mine and Jonathan's pictures from Halloween and when we went to Mt Petit Jean.

I've thought about making one of these books a few times, but I always wanted to see what they would actually come out looking like, and I must say I am quite impressed. At Christmas she was telling me that I should make a cookbook for Christmas presents for everyone next year. She suggested I take old family recipes and my most favorite recipes and combine them with pictures of family gatherings or people in the kitchen. I've thought about that a lot so far this year and I think it would be a great present, I just have to remember to take pictures of food, and write down recipes of things I make instead of just throwing stuff in a pot! ;)

Speaking of recipes, Jonathan and I are now back on our eating healthy bandwagon that we'd fallen off of around the holidays. The fitness center at the hospital is starting a training class to prepare to run 5ks. Jonathan and Jenny went to the informational meeting on Monday night and got some packets about what kind of shoes to get (thankfully JD and Carol got Jonathan awesome new running shoes for Christmas!), and guidelines of eating properly. We eat pretty well at dinner, but my new goal is going to be to work on making better breakfasts and lunches. I'm very excited about the 5k class and am going to participate when I can. Unfortunately they meet on Thursday nights and I always go to "Art and Libations" classes at Stanhope's on Thursdays and I'm not about to give those up! ;) I have also been sick a lot lately, so I actually made a doctor's appointment this morning so I can be cleared to run! Woo-hoo! :)

Well, so much for my short post; I guess I had things to talk about after all!

Well, Two Weeks is Better than Two Months

Jonathan and I have been crazy busy lately! I've only worked at the schools 1/2 a day this whole month and there's only a week-and-a-half left, (which is absolutely crazy by the way!). I have been working more at the church again, which I love. The kids at our church are some of the best in the world, I'm absolutely convinced of it.

My 1/2 a day this month was at the middle school and it definitely made my decision of whether to teach middle school or not. The answer is a huge, resounding NO! Some of the kids were quite a bit larger than me, I was whistled at, the principal thought I was a student and told me to get back to class, and they pretty much had zero respect for me. And this was 6th grade! I can't imagine what it would have been like if I would have had to endure an entire day of 7th or 8th!! So, needless to say I left the school that day with the confirmation that teaching middle school is absolutely not for me.

You may be wondering what I've been doing for the past few weeks since I've not been working at the school. Well, Jonathan and I are in the midst of a MAJOR overhaul of our house. To understand why you must know a little back-story, (probably more than a little because I'm so long-winded).

My last two years at Henderson I didn't live on campus; my junior year I was in an apartment and my senior year a house. While I had roommates, I also accumulated a ton of furniture and "house stuff" in those two years. My last semester to take classes full-time at Henderson ended in May 2006. I took 21 hours that semester and worked in Texarkana on the weekends. So, needless to say when I packed up to leave the house a lot of things were thrown into boxes and put into storage as I moved in with my parents.

In November Jonathan and I rented our first apartment in Texarkana that I lived in alone until we got married and Jonathan moved from Arkadelphia to Texarkana. November was a blur of funerals, work and final wedding plans. We didn't unpack a lot of boxes and even some wedding presents because the apartment was so freaking tiny that we really didn't have room. Three days before we got married all Jonathan's stuff arrived, some of it still in boxes from when he moved in with his Dad and Carol his senior year of high school.

Fast-forward eight months and none of these boxes have been unpacked and the apartment is still too tiny and too scary to stay in any longer. We broke our lease and moved to our current apartment with less than a month's notice. Add to that the week before we moved I was ridiculously sick, so all the last minute crap when you moved was once again thrown into boxes and moved to the new apartment. Two weeks later we hosted a wedding shower at the apartment so everything was just kind of hidden away in the guest closet.

Well, here we are a year-and-a-half later and sadly many of those boxes from all the different moves are STILL packed up!! My main goal for this year was to get rid of all the clutter in our house. So, for the past three weeks, everyday of the week I have spent at least 3 hours going through the junk in our house. So far I have gotten rid of 5 1/2 thrash bags full of clothes to Goodwill, three trash bags full of shredded papers, at least one bag of recycling and who knows how much other stuff. I have cleaned a filing cabinet out completely and gotten rid of 6 boxes of stuff from our guest closet. I have to admit I'm pretty freaking proud of myself! The house still looks like mayhem because I've still got a couple of boxes to go, one is currently spread out in piles in the living room, and the the other is in craft/scrapbook stuff in the guest bedroom.

As I have been unpacking boxes I've been refilling the empty boxes. Our lease for this apartment is up at the end of June and we've decided not to renew. It's been a great apartment for the past year-and-a-half, but it's beginning to get too small and we're generally tired of apartment life, (no matter how nice the apartment). So sometime in June we will be moving out of this apartment, to who knows where. My goal when moving this time is to not have any boxes of random crap. I'm determined to be organized and only move things we need/use. I've already packed up the Christmas stuff, some dishes we only use at Christmas, winter bedding, and a couple of boxes of winter sweaters that we're tired of wearing this season. The boxes are super-neatly labeled, (I have a system!) and stacked in the newly emptied guest closet and our storage building. I'm so excited, I love moving!! :)

That's far too much written already today. I'm getting better at blogging a little more frequently I just wish I had more to talk about!
