-I grew up in church and was in girl scouts for 3 or 4 years and apparently I remember every single vacation Bible school, children's church, church camp, girl scout camp song I've ever heard in my life. I didn't realize this until Henry was born. Sometimes we'll be playing and I'll just start singing him songs I haven't heard or thought about in at least 20 years. It never ceases to amaze me!
-I like to talk on the phone. I know that's not the cool thing to do anymore, but I'm not a huge fan of texting. Just call me on the phone. I swear it takes less time than texting, plus I can do other things while I'm on the phone where I have to stop everything I'm doing to text, and that annoys me.
-I did every single project, in every subject, all through high school up to my college thesis on feminism. I am now a stay at home mom who cooks and sews in my free time. The irony is not lost on me.
-I am intrigued by home births. I used to think that I would never, ever consider something like that, but the idea is really interesting to me.
-I have seen "You've Got Mail," probably over 1,000 times. When husband worked nights I used to turn it on when I went to bed so I wouldn't hear every noise the house made and get freaked out thinking someone was trying to break in and never get any sleep. The downside of this is that I can't actually make it through the whole movie without falling asleep now. It's like taking a sleeping pill. I can turn it on and within a few minutes I'm passed out.
-I love having dinner parties!
-I think it would be fun to be in some kind of ladies club like you see in tv/movies all the time. I don't care what it is, gardening club, book club etc. I think it could be fun, as long as the drama and snark are kept to a minimum. On a related note, I'm thinking of starting a playgroup, anyone local in?
-I strongly prefer paper calendars to digital ones. I like to see everything written out and be able to see the whole month and how busy it is going to be.
from a Pictionary game a few years ago, can you guess what it's supposed to be?
-I love to play board games, especially Pictionary!
-I would love to own a self-sustaining organic farm.
-I am a serial list maker. I have notebooks full of lists. I threw several out when we moved. I probably make at least 3 lists a day. It's a dirty habit, but I love scratching things off of to do lists. Plus, I'm a pretty random person with an extremely short attention span, so sometimes it helps to get it all down on paper so it's not jumbling up my head.
-I always get a little jealous when I hear women talk about how their sisters are their best friends. I have three brothers and growing up I always wanted a sister. It probably didn't help that all my favorite books growing up were about families of girls: Laura Ingalls Wilder books, Pride & Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Little Women, and the Betsy books by Maud Hart Lovelace.
-My 9th grade biology teacher told me once that I had the shortest attention span she'd ever seen in all her years of teaching. She made me sit at the front of the class right next to the overhead projector.
-I always say I'm ready to be done remodeling our house so our lives won't feel so chaotic, but I don't think that's 100% factual. The truth is, I kind of like the chaos of the unfinished sometimes. When we're finished with everything I know I'll be ready to start in on redecorating rooms that are done. Or move.
-I really think I want to homeschool Henry when the time comes. I know a lot of people look down on it, but I think it can be really great if it's done correctly! It's not because I want to shelter him either. Husband and I were both bored to tears all through school. I didn't learn to study until my college Botany and Modern German History classes. I rarely had to put any effort in to anything in school, but I almost failed a couple classes in 7th grade because I was so freaking bored. I don't want the same thing for my child(ren?). Plus, I've actually passed the tests and according to the state of Texas, am qualified to teach anything through an 8th grade level. You might not have known that either. ;)
-I'm a pretty passionate person. Not in a gross lovey dovey way. I am just super passionate about issues that are important to me; organic food, cloth diapers, car seat safety, etc. I tend to get a little carried away sometimes, and have to remind myself, (or my husband reminds me, ha!), that there are other ways of doing things things other than mine. Even if mine is the correct way. ;)
-I like to argue. Not in a nit-picky way, but serious debate with facts. The more fired up the longer words I use. haha
-I am well aware that I overuse !!!, haha!, and ;) whenever I type anything out, but I feel like people might not know if I'm joking if I don't. I always try to limit them so I don't look like a 13 year old, but I don't think I do a very good job of it.
a couple Christmas projects
-I've been toying with the idea of opening an etsy shop for a while, but don't think I actually sew/paint well enough to do it. I think the things I make look a lot better in pictures than they do in real life. I'm way too much of a perfectionist to try to sell or even give away things I make.
-I should have titled this list, bet you didn't know I was secretly 80 years old. Between the text bashing and the snail mail love, I probably sound a lot older than I am.
So, how many of those did you already know? Have I shared all of these before and just forgotten about it?
Happy Friday!
Jennifer

I love your list!!
ReplyDeleteA play group would be fun!! :)
The secret to pregnancy nails is the prenatal vitamins. If you're still breastfeeding(?), you should be taking them anyway.
ReplyDeleteFun to hear about these things! Lots of people are into homesteading and crafts these days. I don't think it makes you sound 80 at all. And I completely agree about the smart phones, texting, mail, et. al. Funny how things come around.
My go-to-sleep movie is Bridget Jones. I love being able to tell where (and therefore how fast) I fell asleep based on the last scene I saw/heard.
I LOVE lists and Instagram too! And yes, you should open an ETSY shop. i would buy your stuff!
ReplyDeleteOoo I think it would be awesome if you had an ETSY shop! That's one of my favorite sites to go to!! Fun post!
